Deep 7.0 magnitude earthquake shakes Peru – third 7.0 earthquake to strike the world in 4 days

August 24, 2011Peru – A 7.0 -magnitude earthquake shook buildings in Peru’s capital city, Lima, on Wednesday, witnesses and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said. The quake was quickly followed by a 5.3 aftershock. The USGS said the epicenter of the quake was 82.07 kilometres north of Pucallpa, in the Peruvian Amazon forest close to the Brazilian border. The USGS said the quake, initially upgraded to a magnitude 6.9, was 145.2 km deep. –Globe and Mail

By the Numbers: For once, the low earthquake figure on the USGS global grid belies the disturbing fact of just how much the planet has been shaking in the month of August and the statistics are quite alarming. Typically, the worlds sees an average of fifteen 7.0+ magnitude earthquakes a year- we’ve already had three in the month of August- two in Vanuatu, and one in Peru. We’ve had seven earthquakes of the 6.0+ range in August and have seen more than 18 earthquakes in the upper 5.6 to 5.9 range. This includes four in Vanuatu, three in Japan, three in Papua New Guinea, two in the Sandwich Islands, one in Alaska, one in Kermadec, one in the Solomon Islands, one in Pakistan, one in Xinjiang, China,  one in Ecuador, and one in Virginia. We’re returning to a cluster period of very high seismic activity reminiscent of the 1960’s. This is particularly the case with large earthquake events but by 2012, if the current trend continues to escalate; we could go way beyond what we’re seeing now.The Extinction Protocol

  2. I saw this and I was going to let you know about it. All of these events are happening so fast, I can’t keep up with them anymore. Plus I’m still tracking the hurricane and warning people to get out of the way. Today, they have used the term “Cat 5” as a possibility. I think it’s time I get away from my computer for a bit and be in prayer for these people. I don’t even want to think of what the devastation is going to be.

Thank you so much for your diligence, Alvin.

    Be blessed and Maranatha.

It seems like the months that have been before August we have had several earthquakes but in August it is happening everyday. I think we skipped one day since August 19th. Do you think that we are building for a really big one for August or is it all coinsidence.

    • Building or sliding into more chaos…depending on how you look at it. We’re just not seeing more earthquakes, we’re also seeing more tectonic plate agitation and more fault activations. Expect surprises at any time from now going forward…

I remember your warning around a month ago Alvin. If I remember correctly it was to the effect that this time would be coming soon and that you would make a statement to that effect. Well, here it is! That’s for keeping us informed.

BTW – I agree. Plus, the only thing that would surprise me would be if we are all wrong and everything settles back down to a normal set of events.

        God bless all!

    • I, for one, do not believe in coincidence. But I think we are going to see a really active September. I don’t think we’ve seen anything yet.

Here in Lima, on the 15th floor. Epicenter was 400 miles away but building moved up and down and swayed. Glad I’m going back to Indiana tonight.
