Saturn’s superstorm: Earth not the only planet climate becoming more turbulent

July 7, 2011LOS ANGELES (AP) – It began as a bright white dot in Saturn’s northern hemisphere. Within days, the dot grew larger and stormier. Soon the tempest enveloped the ringed planet, triggering lightning flashes thousands of times more intense than on Earth. The international Cassini spacecraft and ground telescopes have been tracking the turbulence since last December, visible from Earth as a type of storm known as a “Great White Spot.” “It’s still going like crazy,” said Cassini project scientist Linda Spilker of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Such planet-wide weather disturbances are rare on Saturn, where the atmosphere is typically hazy and calm. Since 1876, astronomers have observed only five other mega-storms on Saturn. “This is a one-of-a-kind storm,” said Andrew Ingersoll, a self-described planetary weatherman at the California Institute of Technology, who was part of the discovery team. An instrument aboard Cassini, which is orbiting Saturn, first picked up radio outbursts on Dec. 5, 2010 from a lightning storm. Around the same time, amateur astronomers peering through telescopes saw a bright point in Saturn’s northern half. Further observations confirmed it was a brewing storm. The storm system, which occurred during the start of Saturn spring, grew in size and intensity, eventually stretching around the planet. Scientists don’t exactly know what stirs up the storms, but they think it could be linked to the change of seasons. At the height of the storm, Cassini detected 10 lightning strikes per second. Scientists said the electrical activity emitted by the bursts were 10,000 times stronger than lightning on Earth. The findings were described in two papers published in Thursday’s issue of the journal Nature. –CBS News

Alvin…..What in your opinion is causing the disturbance of of our system? Does this have anything to do with milkyway and the energy within it? Interesting.Thankyou R

    • Well, it a word Radiogirl- it is the same process that involves the ignition or maintenance of most processes in the universe- energy. Most of this energy is the result of a cosmic thermal exchange, which we have never understood; yet alone explored. This is similar to thermal catalysts in the Thermohaline circulation in our oceans and convection interactions between core boundary and mantle. In space, it involves stars and their life and death cycles and their energy exchanges and radiant emissions. We’re interconnected with processes that emit accelerated energy particles from the Sun and from the deep recesses of space and we may learn that rather somber reality before this story plays out.

That “storm” looks more like an erupting volcano to me. It looks like the chilean volcano plume seen on Earth – has a starting point with expanding plume being swept around atmosphere of northern hemisphere of Saturn????. If so, does this mean we are witnessing other planets under stress from solar forces? – Saturn represents the planet of mystery, maybe we are in for a surprise?.

Saturn is a “gas giant” planet, which means it is not solid in the middle like the rocky, “terrestrial” planets such as Earth, Venus and Mars. So there are no volcanos on Saturn itself, (although there are kinds of volcanos on some moons around Saturn and Jupiter). The disturbance this article is talking about is genuinely a storm in the gaseous atmosphere of Saturn, as there is nothing else of any significance there but gases.

Or does this have to do with the Elenin Saturn alignment date July 7 2011? Interesting that this was posted today.hmmm…

for the last 20 years we have been observing changes to all the planets, and their moons in our solar system.whatever factor is influencing our planet to warm up from the inside is also affecting the rest of our solar system, so global warming is actualy a universal mallady and not neccesarily a man made problem, allthough you cant rule out our influence on climatic changes,we are just compounding the ongoing problem.
it is likely that our solar system suffers with this problem every so many thousands of years, and is part of a long cycle of change that we have not as yet become aware of.
there are a few possibilities that could cause such a large scale effect on our solar system, but most people dont like any of them cause they cant be proven as real, even though the evidence suggests otherwise.
wot we do know as fact is that 11,500 years ago our planet experienced a massive calamity resulting in a largescale worldwide extinction event, and that this could be part of an ongoing cycle which effects our solar system, and all these events we are witnessing now are the warning signs of what’s coming around again.

People are still in the same old geocentric mind pattern. Might sound a tad paradoxical but we are not living in a vacuum. We will be always influenced by outside sources of energy. Also, for the Elenin, HAARP and other nutters – suit yourself inside your tiny paranoid brains.

A strong, highly-tilted interstellar magnetic field near the Solar System

Observations indicating a hydrogen density gradient in the vicinity of the solar system are reviewed, particularly observations of an anisotropy in the far-UV flux around 950 A from the brightest and closest O and B stars as well as a variation in the local D/H ratio along the lines of sight to Alpha Cen and Alpha Aur. Possible mechanisms that may strongly affect the observed D/H ratio on a very small scale are considered, selected radiation pressure is proposed as the most likely mechanism for deuterium separation, and it is shown that this mechanism would be effective only if the density gradient of the nearby interstellar medium has remained stable for at least about 10 million years. This time scale is taken to imply the existence of a nearby (less than 2 pc distant) interstellar cloud. Observational arguments in favor of such a cloud are presented, and implications of the presence of a nearby cloud are discussed, including possible changes in terrestrial climate. It is suggested that the postulated interstellar cloud should encounter the solar system at some unspecified time in the ‘near’ future and might have a drastic influence on terrestrial climate in the next 10,000 years.

ESA sees stardust storms heading for Solar System
Until ten years ago, most astronomers did not believe stardust could enter our Solar System. Then ESA’s Ulysses spaceprobe discovered minute stardust particles leaking through the Sun’s magnetic shield, into the realm of Earth and the other planets. Now, the same spaceprobe has shown that a flood of dusty particles is heading our way.

Ulysses sees Galactic Dust on the rise
Since early 1992 Ulysses has been monitoring the stream of stardust flowing through our Solar System. The stardust is embedded in the local galactic cloud through which the Sun is moving at a speed of 26 kilometres every second. As a result of this relative motion, a single dust grain takes twenty years to traverse the Solar System. Observations by the DUST experiment on board Ulysses have shown that the stream of stardust is highly affected by the Sun’s magnetic field.

Planetophysical State Of The Earth And Life

    by Dr. Alexey N. Dmitriev

N. Dmitriev, Andrew Tetenov, and Earl L. Crockett.)

    Conclusions
The situation that has been created here in our heliosphere is of external, interstellar, cosmic space origin, and is herein assumed to be caused by the underlying fundamental auto-oscillation space-physical processes of continuous creation that has shaped and continues to evolve our universe. The present excited state of our heliosphere exists within the whole or entire organism that makes up the Solar System: the Sun, planets, moons, comets, and asteroids, as well as the plasmas and/or electromagnetic mediums and structures of interplanetary space.

The response to these interstellar energy and matter injections into our heliosphere has been, and continues to be, a series of newly observed energetic processes and formations on all of the planets, between the planets and their moons, and between the planets and the Sun.

What bothers me is that this will probably never going to be allowed to go mainstream. The rationale behind that – why warn 6.9 billion people about this? At best it means more natural disasters and technogenic catastrophes are heading our way. At worst – a major cataclysm event. So they’d rather follow that line by Rahm: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste… What I mean by that is it’s an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before”
Whatever it means – scare the world further down into NWO, carbon taxes, population control, etc. Also spread Elenin, HAARP etc type of paranoia to make people think TPTB are really in control of everything. While in reality – they don’t control anything.
We need to make a leap in awareness about things in this world and the Universe on the whole. A mere climbing up in Kardashev scale under the same framework of consumerism won’t cut it. It’s a suicide trip for our civilization.

      • I agree Sergei. As I have said repeatedly, we have to entertain the possibility that the Elenin and HAARP agendas are being circulated and orchestrated to make credible messages that much more unbelievable. Every crisis is blamed on one or the other which is absolutely ludicrious. As far as what the powers that be know about what’s coming…see post Reloaded
