3rd major quake rattles Papua New Guinea in a week

May 20, 2011Papua New Guineahas been struck by a second major earthquake in 5 days. Just four days ago, the island nation was rattled by a 6.5 earthquake just off the coast that precipitated tsunami warnings. Today’s 5.8 earthquake struck inland at the shallow depth of less than 2 km. A third 5.0 earthquake also struck the region on May 21, 2011.
