According to the theory of sea-floor spreading and continental drift, the continents are moving away from the Atlantic and they are converging on the Pacific- more subductive pressures on the Pacific Plate and more turbulence in the Ring of Fire. Parts of Indonesia is also being swallowed by higher and higher rising tides.
