A mysterious sound is driving people insane, it’s spreading — and nobody knows what’s causing it

A case for X-Files: The World Hum database shows incidents and reports of the mysterious humming noise are increasing throughout North America and nobody knows what’s causing it.
July 2014 PARANORMAL – Some Hum investigators like University of Oklahoma geophysicist David Deming suspect that there’s a global source responsible for the Hum worldwide. “It’s a very, very low wavelength noise, perhaps between 50 or 56 Hz,” Moir told Mic. “And it’s extremely difficult to stop infrasound because it can have a wavelength of up to 10 meters, and you’d need around 2.5 meter thick walls, built with normal materials, to keep it out. It gets into our wooden houses very easily. And part of the reason people have so much trouble identifying the source of it is because of how low frequency the Hum is: It literally moves right through your head before you can figure out which ear picked it up first.” Deming’s research, considered close to authoritative in the Hum community, suggests that evidence of the Hum corresponds with an accidental, biological consequence of the “Take Charge and Move Out” (TACAMO) system adopted by the US Navy in the 1960s as a way for military leaders to maintain communications with the nation’s ballistic missile submarines, land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, and long-range bombers during a nuclear war. As part of TACAMO, military aircraft use VLF radio waves to send instructions to submarines: Because of their large wavelengths, VLF can diffract around large obstacles like mountains and buildings, propagate around the globe using the Earth’s ionosphere and penetrate seawater to a depth of almost 40 meters, making them ideal for one-way communication with subs. And VLF, like other low-frequency electromagnetic waves, have been shown to have a direct impact on biological functions. (Strategic Communications Wing One at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, which is responsible for the manning, training and equipping of aircraft utilized as part of the TACAMO system, did not respond to requests for comment.)
Scientific data and anecdotal experiences of the Hum vary so much from region the world that it’s still unclear whether VLF and ELF waves are the source of it, let alone a catalyst for mass murder. The idea of a mysterious noise driving people to suicide has given birth to all kinds of pseudoscientific conjecture, making the phenomenon a favorite for conspiracy junkies who suspect foul play by some malicious government scheme (or UFOs, obviously). The World Hum, a site devoted to exploring the “mysterious phenomenon being heard by thousands around the world,” is riddled with byzantine entries about UFOs crashing in Siberia. Dr. Glen MacPherson,  a lecturer at the University of British Columbia, knows how insane it sounds. “There’s a terrible irony to the vision of a conspiracy nut in a tinfoil hat, trying to keep the government from beaming thoughts into their heads,” laughs MacPhearson, “since aluminum does protect against some electromagnetic radiation. This is why you don’t put that stuff in the microwave.”
The federally funded investigation into the Windsor Hum and the serious examination of Kohlhase’s research by Connecticut authorities may serve as a beacon of hope for Hum investigators like MacPherson, Moir, Novak and Kohlhase. State-funded tests on Hum-affected regions may yield data that could lead to a real-world solution, rather than conspiracy theories. Until then, developing a unified picture of the Hum is exactly what MacPherson wants to accomplish in British Columbia. By providing one destination for Hum data and testimony, he’s hoping that professional and independent researchers will use the collected data to help develop and execute experiments that could help identify the source of their local Hum. But until someone funds and conducts rigorous tests in an affected region, says Moir, people will continue to use the Hum as an excuse to blame modern technology, from mobile phones to telecom towers to the digital radio bands used by law enforcement. And that aura of pseudoscientific insanity surrounding the Hum has made the job of independent researchers more challenging. “In the past, I’ve contacted my representatives, I’ve contacted my governor,” says Kohlhase. “There’s willful ignorance going on about this problem and the real consequences it has.”
But should researchers like MacPherson and Moir finally pinpoint the local sources of the pain-inducing phenomenon, the Hum may transition from unexplained mystery to unfortunate byproduct of modernity, a fixture of human geography like light pollution. In the meantime, many just want to identify some relief. “A lot of serious researchers don’t want to have their name attached to that, but I’m not a formal academic researcher, and I’m quite willing to lend some credibility to this idea if I can,” says MacPherson. “This phenomenon is real and many people are suffering: I’m just trying to do the best I can to help.” -MIC

I feel that this ‘hum’ is more than likely a natural phenomenon. The source of which may be plate, fault and volcanic behaviours.
Globally the tectonic plates, trenches and various inland faults, and volcanoes, have been agitated intermittently by Mother Earth (and her interior), and other influences, moving in various ways.
Earth movements can cause geo-electric (and geo-magnetic) waves of various intensities to be dissipated across a region or even across the planet. These can travel above or below the land surface and through water ways.
A hum can be emitted from ‘movement’ and expulsion of seen and unseen (elements which aren’t visible to the naked eye) energies within a ‘structure’.
This is just my humble and amateur opinion.

” We skipped the last Fandango….turning cartwheels cross the floor….I was feeling kind of seasick…The crowed yelled out for more! The room was humming louder…As the ceiling blew away! When we called out for another drink… The waiter brought a tray! Procol Harem..Whiter Shade of Pale…

    • katnea says:

I know….. right? Good analogy Joseph! Yup, even when the ceiling itself is blowing away, humankind will continue to do what its always done! They either slap on their rose-colored glasses in order to downplay the severity of their situation, or they slap on their blinders in order to deny any threat even exists at all! And of course our ongoing denial behavior will continue until humankind realizes that their waiter has already been sucked out the ceiling! However, once humanity realizes their waiter is gone, only then will they understand that they are truly screwed because escape is no longer an option!

I mean there have been numerous signs all about us for a while now, but as usual, ignorance, greed, and apathy, have always trumped any acknowledgment of threats! Indeed, humanity simply cant be bothered to get up off their rumps, unite as one, and demand that the ongoing destruction of our home, (Planet Earth) will not be tolerated anymore! Period.

BTW- the only song I could come up with is the: “Say something I’m giving up on you.” song. However, I’ve exchanged the word “Say” for “Do” in order to make it fit. (smiles)

      Planet Earth singing to Humankind:
DO something I’m giving up on you….
I’ll be the one if you want me to?
Anywhere I would have followed you….
DO something I’m giving up on you!

“We CAN evade reality, but we CANNOT evade the consequences of evading reality.” — Ayn Rand

      • Joseph Sonny Skies says:

Hi katnea! You got it! So much of the world is just having fun playing games but I believe God is letting the Earth shake to wake us to a bigger existence. A true existence of God as our Father and we as His children.I like the song you picked!

  3. Tina Tenis says:

The article didn’t give any specifics about the humming sound being painful and possibly causing suicidal thoughts and it didn’t really elaborate on either subject so I was wondering where that info came from (I don’t know what MIC is) and if there was someplace, a good website you could recommend to read, that may have more info on how quicklhise the ewhat all kind experiences it was causing people to have

    • Sandy says:

Any source of persistent humming or audible vibration can disturb the senses and emotions in varying degrees, and with varying impacts on the person/s irritated by such.
Knowing what the source is is only part of the solution.
The humming doesn’t necessarily have to produce pain (or cause pain) for the potential of suicidal thoughts.
If something is continuous and disturbing enough in any form, unresolved and not ceased or reduced, the disturbance to the psychological and emotional wellbeing of a person (even an animal) can be seriously compromised.

  4. Have you checked out HAARP as a Source of the Hum?

    • Noe Castillo says:

Exactly! If everyone look at the cellphone towers you will notice a speaker in a form of a cylinder.!!!

    • stevesmitty79 says:

You might be on to something. I believe it’s built into our industrial infrastructure and as that expands, it’s making the signal more pronounced. I also believe it’s a frequency that has negative physiologic effects and is for that reason in play to cause low impact and long term physical and psychological impairment and disability.

      • Mark F says:

Is it possible modern architecture is building structures designed to amplify frequencies in the 50-56hz range? Remember Ghostbusters? The building where Sigourney Weaver’s character lived was described by Dan Akroyd’s character as “a huge SUPERCONDUCTING antenna”…

  6. Irene C says:

Does anyone know if there are any wind turbines in the areas where the sounds are heard? That could be a possibility. imo

    • Cat Sower says:

this sound could be from all of the sound waves they use when the haarp is engaged in manipulation—-this alone is a very strong possibility

    • Elizabeth Jackson says:

I wondered the same thing. I saw on an energy house type of program that they were discouraging residential wind turbines because that found it created a low, nearly Inaudible hum, but was responsible for many physical responses such as bad sleep and irritability. Could affect an area up to a block away. Wonder if these areas are staring to install these as energy devices.

  7. rose says:

wonder if it has anything to do with all this increase in earthquake activity?

I agree with you! We the people have been in travail and will continue until the arrival of Yeshua. The heaven and the earth will be affected in these last days.

  9. Paul Sessler says:

let us hear that strange sound then

    • Brent says:

Paul, I have been experiencing this low frequency hum for the last 4 to 5 years. The hum would last for weeks at a time continuously with out stopping and then stop, not partial to any season. I would ask the people around me, ‘Can you hear that low hum?’ and they would always say ‘no’. Being that I am a trumpet player knew I could match the hum with a frequency emulator, You can download a freeware version with a simple search. I was able to match it with 54Hz every time. I earlier dismissed it as industrial noise like huge air condition units from a major University Hospital and I do have a wireless cell tower less than a 1/4 mile from me. But after reading this article affirms that its not just me. I wear ear plugs when I sleep and the noise is better pronounced. Sorry for the long response, but maybe this will help you reproduce the sound so you know what people are hearing.

      • Klaxon says:

The low hum is coming from Russia.

      • No its not from Russia I had the USEPA from Las Vegas NV come to my home looking for the sound * foghorns or hums * in 1980 and one of the things they were looking at was Russian Woodpecker and it was determined definitely it was NOT of Russian origin. They said they had no idea where it was coming from but it was everywhere below 100hertz, specifically below 10 hertz and they believe that I am one of the rare people who can hear at that level. Most hearing is between 25-32 hertz that is the voice range so its the ideal frequency for hearing. The man who came to my home with all the equipment had his business card US EPA and the other side of the same card was the same information, in Russian. He knows what they are doing and not doing.
His title was US EPA Electromagnetic Noise Analysis of Western States.

  11. Mike says:

CELL TOWERS. Government is using the frequency to drive people to anger and frustration, which in turn causes them to become violent and unstable. More crime, murders, etc, but most of all, they want people to be pushed over the edge and sick of everything going on with the economy, wars, culture, illegals, etc, and then revolt, so we can have a civil war and then can try marshal law and bring in the UN and foreign troops.

    • Bone Idle says:

      Hum predates cellular telephones.

    • I actually remember reading something a reeeally long time ago written by some random guy ranting on and on about how the government was executing plans to use “cell phone towers” as a mechanism to alter peoples’ mind-states. Similar to the phenomenon which is actually going on now.
I agree with Debra, it does look like a cell coverage map. Who knows.

      • bluesuede says:

That’s plausible. The map does cover all the major cities and the emptiest areas are where not many live.

    • Dessie Watkins says:

It’s discomfitting to read posts like yours- very few technologies are developed with sinister end goals in mind, but when the unintended negative side effects become apparent, corrupt and intellectually challenged people alike abuse this knowledge and consequently destroy everyone’s respect and trust of scientific advances. Didn’t you ever ponder why it is that both the intellectually challenged and the highly educated people who built up the knowledge work in uncoordinated unity to destroy scientific knowledge at the end of each Age of Man – the humorous side note is that all that lost knowledge gets attributed to aliens from outer space. . .or demons from Hell.

      • Mark F says:

Inundating people with cell tower radiation is not an accidental byproduct of innocent technological advances. Your theory reeks of the usual slave-speak.

  13. Bone Idle says:

Hum is heard in Melbourne Australia and in rural Queensland Australia – 1500 miles apart.
Neighbour made a complaint to an adjacent local school accusing them of running their rooftop air conditioners during the night. I pointed out to her that this was not the source of the noise.

  14. DB says:

The above article is very poorly written, interjecting personal opinion with fact and once again, making *conspiracy theorists* out to be nutcases. In other words, it’s shill written and slanted to make it seem like the people who can hear these are nutcases themselves. It amazes me that people have different levels of seeing (nearsightedness, farsightedness, etc.) and somehow they’re not branded as nutcases, but let people hear differently and they’re ridiculed.

However this sounds more like tunnel boring to me: http://www.hagergeoscience.com/pdf_files/monitoring_vibrations.pdf

  16. Daniel Raphael, Ph.D. says:

As a child (6-10 yrs old) we lived in the Cascade foot hills of Oregon, and while I was out in the strawberry fields with my dad who was hoeing weeds, we would hear that deep hum. . Then as a teenager in Iowa in the 50-60s I often heard this deep hum when I was out in the fields weeding soy beans and corn., Later, in the mid-60s in Arizona, I would ride off into the desert east of Mesa on my motorcycle, stop to look at the scenery with the motor turned off, and I would hear the hum. So, it is a phen. that has been taking place for at least the last 60+ years.

    • Oregon was one of the 1st locations these sounds have been heard and or picked up on electronic equipment. Usually its a dual trace spectrum analyzer. I was according to my family records responding to something at as young an age as 2 years of age that would make it 65 years ago. Apparently I learned to ignore it for some time. Then in 1976 I could not ignore it any longer.

  17. Liz says:

I hear it all the time but tune it out for the most part. I first noticed it one night while waiting to drift off to sleep.Sometimes if I dwell on it, it is irritating because I don’t know what it is. I have asked others if they hear it and they say no but I think it is just because they are not tuning into it. Very strange.

  18. emelanie says:

I live in Southern Colorado in the mountains. Cheyenne Mountain is only about 100 miles away from me. There are underground bases and tunnels all around and under me, connecting Las Alamos in New Mexico to Cheyenne Mountain Military Base in Colorado Springs to the Denver airport etc… I used to hear the “Taos Hum” in the mid 1990’s. It eventually went away. It was a low frequency hum that you “hear” inside your head, it is not audible. I would tell people this and they would want to send me to their shrink. I think this hum is the sound of the underground drilling machines that “melt” the rock and create the tunnels. “They” are trying to create an escape route for themselves that “they” can use when “they” destroy the US and the economy. Haarp is used to control the weather and does not create a hum. Just remember that God will destroy those who destroy the earth. It is all karma and eventually “they” will be destroyed. By the way, “they” all answer to Queen Elizabeth, the head of freemasonry. This is why sycobama bowed to the queen when he and Michael visited her. That is Michael, not Michelle. This is not a typo. Both sycobama and his transvestite wife, Michael, are working for the Queen, to take back the colonies for the queen, she never got over our Declaration of Independence. The truth is stranger than any one’s imagination. “They” will flee to their underground shelters and underground bases and then almighty God will cause the rocks to fall on them and destroy them for their evil deeds. Hang in there, in the end, WE WIN, good always overcomes evil. It is God’s way. This is all about what happens when people think they can deny God and then become God. This was the first lie from Satan, “…that ye shall be as Gods”. All the bums at Washington DC should be imprisoned for the evil deeds that they do on a daily basis, starting with Harry Reid, what a crook. They steal from us in the form of taxes and then allow all of these illegals to enter in and help to destroy what is left of our economy. The illegals will be used to lower everyone’s standard of living. Get used to a third world country, coming soon to a theater near you…In the meantime, be as vocal about this crap as you can and do whatever you can do to prevent it.

    • Jane says:

Amen, sister. Coming sooner that we think, for certain. They will absolutely reap what they have sown if their hearts are still hardened.

  19. Most lightly it is all our many forms of communications, that are sent through the airwaves via Satellite and Cell towers. These waves can pile up and form waves that may produce a hum. Cell Phone, TV and Internet, Doppler radar etc. Some one who is an expert in the physics of sound, and communication waves needs to look into it.

  20. Ann says:

Maybe it’s coming from “smart meters.” They are projecting a high-electrical amount that is thought to be dangerous and some people CAN hear a buzzing/humming from them.

    • Again the sound is too high frequency… it affects pace makers.. it affects the heart and clearly they are dangerous. Childhood leukemia have more than doubled in one area of the Northern California Bay area, after installing smart meters on the schools. If you can afford it, Opt out… In Oregon they want way too much money, in CA its much less. When they installed the smart meters in Salem Oregon in 2010 my mom had a heart attack 6 months later and had a pace maker put in, she died less than a year later… I know they are dangerous and she had 3 at one time. Gas, Power and Water meters all changed over. But these in my personal opinion are not part of the HUM.

  21. Where can this info be looked up from a credible source? Every night between 11pm and 2am (times vary) I hear something similar to this and I always ask my husband “what the hell is that sound?” It’s low and steady and doesn’t last for any extended length of time but it is very strange. Btw I live in SoCal…

    • Jane says:

I also am in So. Cal., High Desert. Since November of last year 2013 this low frequency hum comes at about the same time as you mention. Now it is lasting much longer. It is specifically in my right ear. Nothing seems to help to shield this noise. I’ve tried shielding material, ear plugs and now a naturopathic doctor. Her remedy seems to help diminish the noise somewhat. Medical doctors have no clue about any of this and pass it off as Tinnitus. It is NOT Tinnitus. It sounds exactly like the audio on this article.

I truly believe it is the exorbitant amount of radio frequencies/EMF in our atmosphere that is also related to HAARP,

      check out http://www.smartmeters.org

      • Jane says:

        OOPS! That’s –
Based in California and many listed smartmeter related sites to stop this toxic, deadly
radiation emitting, surveillance device attached to our homes. Remember the smart meter is VOLUNTARY! It is not mandatory –

This site is based in UK and a vast array of information on shielding, protection, health issues –

Based in the U.S and a wealth of information –

      • Thanks! Thought I was going crazy lol. I’m familiar with HAARP and the weather changing system and that makes sense…. I will see what else I can find out about local reports on this as well, maybe someone has made progress of finding the source. Hope it gets better for u…

      • Yovnne says:

Jane, I agree with you that it is the Haarp. Has anyone ever heard electrictiy going though wires or a transformer? That’s what it sounds like to me. Not a hum, more like electric sounds. There have been times at night when I try to go to sleep, it bothered me so bad, I couldn’t go to sleep. I heard about the tin foil so I thought I would try it. I did help some, but had to bring it down over my ears also, then I could go to sleep better. I think I must tune it out some lately, even though I hear it right now. I wish it would go away.

      • I know people do not like HAARP, me included but Again I am telling you HAARP is as the name implies High-Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) Its not ELF or ULF or VLF its UHF, VHF,and EHF, all the HIGH FREQUENCY.. The high frequency may cause some symptoms such as a tinnitus type sound but not low frequency HUMS or FOG HORNS.

The most prominent instrument at the HAARP Station is the Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI), a high-power radio frequency transmitter facility operating in the high frequency (HF) band. The IRI is used to temporarily excite a limited area of the Ionosphere. Other instruments, such as a VHF and a UHF radar, a fluxgate magnetometer, a digisonde (an ionospheric sounding device), and an induction magnetometer, are used to study the physical processes that occur in the excited region.

Work on the HAARP Station began in 1993. The current working IRI was completed in 2007, and its prime contractor was BAE Systems Advanced Technologies.[1] As of 2008, HAARP had incurred around $250 million in tax-funded construction and operating costs. It was reported to be temporarily shut down in May 2013, awaiting a change of contractors. As of May 2014, it has been announced that the HAARP program will be shut down later in the year. Since that time I have heard they did in fact shut it down, but be assured they have something ready to replace it and likely are using it now.. but I do not think this one can be blamed on HAARP.

      • Hopefully you had the tin foil Earthed. Otherwise metal will attract a magnetic field to your head, or whatever part of you is between it and Earth. EMF and electricity take the path of least resistance. There is a lot of water in your head and body.

      • Yes you can be hearing HAARP you make a good argument, you do not hear the hum you hear a buzzing like wires going through a transformer… HAARP is high frequency and that would be the kind of sounds that wires put out. If you have ever heard the insect a Katydid’s that is a high pitch sound you often hear in the evening when its hot its like a very hi pitched wire singing sound.

  22. Terri Hickok says:

What I hear us more of a ” white noise ” than a hum, it’s almost always present, louder some days. And it more of a head noise than actually hearing it. I’m not sure if this is what is being discussed here.

  23. Wow, that is interesting! It is almost “hearts and minds” campaign that is written on my blog.

I would add the High Desert of California. With the enormous numbers of cell towers, very high power lines coming through our cities, very near homes, schools and parks where children play and there is no oversight by City Planners and officials, It’s all about the $$$. Follow the money!!

ATT, Verizon, Southern California Electric, Cox Communications…all have their hand in this. Cox Communications has cell towers as high as 266′ tall very close to homes. Check out http://www.antennasearch.com for locations of these Electro-magnetic weaponry causing much havoc with people’s health, hearing and our environment. Meanwhile, City Hall “officials” ignore, discount and disrespect anyone who brings up the topic. AGAIN…FOLLOW THE MONEY!!

We are being bombarded with too much electro-magnetic frequencies. Yet people keep buying all their E-gadgets so they can “chat”, drive electric cars to save gas, yet they cause human and environmental health damage.

    • I agree that the cell phones, and other gadgets as well as the Smart Meters are causing EMF radiation in levels we have never seen, but all of these are in the Ultra High Frequency, we are talking about a HUM or sound in the very low VLF, ULF and ELF frequencies, these towers etc would never be allowed to use the low frequency due to the usage of these frequencies by the DOD.

    • Me says:

      significantly predates e-gadgets

  29. Stacy says:

I heard some type of low hum noise last month. I couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from as it seemed like all around. I’m in North GA. It was strange and lasted all night but haven’t heard it since then.

  30. I am not a scientist but I am a biological sensitive and due to my personal experiences I feel I may know something on this subject and have earned the right to share my experiences. I have a couple of theories as to the origin of the sound. It is not HAARP.. First the possible connection to submarine communication was discussed. I have to say that idea was investigated in 1979-80 when I was contacted my Commander Copeland of the 13th Naval Command in Seattle Washington and was given a ” Cease and Desist ” order. I was also informed the call was being recorded and there was a Senior Officer on the line… WHY? Because I was talking about a sound I could hear and feel, and they were concerned that I was able to hear the communication of the Trident Submarine System.. It was not the Trident System I was hearing although I will not rule out I can hear it… then came the government from a Slavic speaking county wanting to know if it was worth their while to come and see me? After 3 such calls without identifying them- selves, a call to the FBI stopped the calls. They were definitely interested. Next came the testing. Oregon State School for the Deaf, USEPA and DEQ and Hyperbaric Decompression Chambers as well as Anechoic Chambers, and Therm-o-gram Research Labs and finally the United States Bureau of Standards, Magnetic Testing Labs.. where they used a SQUIDD Machine to measure the EM output of my brain. I hear sounds, is it the HUM, perhaps but what I hear is a fog horn sound. Over lapping continuous foghorns since mid May of 1976. It never stops. It has 13 distinct signatures or variations in the sounds. My hearing has been tested down to and below 10 hertz and I have heard as low as low as 2-7 hertz. It is not acoustical, its a EMF Radiation. Its a vibration. I live in a solid cellular concrete home. It helps, even 6 inch thick walls do not block the sound. I have learned for me, that the sound allows me to forecast Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions and Solar Flares with upwards of 93% accuracy and many locations 100%. This has been confirmed by Biologist and other scientist. I began to hear the sound within 2 months of the major quake in China that took over 650,000 lives in July 1976. It does not come without a price. Headaches, earaches, heart pains, leg and back pains and more. I am best known for my accurate prediction of the major eruption and all subsequent explosive and dome building eruptions since St Helens went active in March 1980. I have been on over a dozen television programs, such as That’s Incredible, In Search Of, Merv Griffin Show and Discovery and The Learning Channel… been written up in over 300 news papers and magazines, books etc. I have been studied my scientist in four states.

The sound I hear is constant many who hear the HUM at times do not hear it and if you change location, you might stop hearing it… this never, never stops. Sitting in an enclosed car is pure torture. I have a theory as to the sound perhaps its the actual rotation of the earth, or perhaps its from the sun, maybe its the plates of the planet moving, all of these things have been discussed in closed door meetings with Battelle International and Sen. John Glenn and others. The US Government started a volunteer reaseach project with me called “ Project Migraine “ to predict quakes etc prospectively of the event. As to the hum now, picking up since 2008 and I have to wonder about the CERN Hadron Collider. I was told by one of their people, I can’t guarantee its true but I was told that they were attempting to create a tiny black hole…I asked why and was told to see if they can, but I was assured that it was safe..my response was ” you know this how” No answer.

Personally I do not think we need to create black holes for any reason.. but the speed of the collider and the fact that the lower the frequency, the longer the wave the further it will travel so perhaps that is it.. when USEPA came to my home they thought they were dealing with the ” Russian Woodpecker ” of 1976, since it was tracked to within 32 miles of my location here in Salem OR… but it was not the woodpecker……. I was told this sound as it was called, when they came to test me in 1980, was picked up in a “sound proof Attenuation Booth” and it was picked up in the atmosphere and it was picked up under ground and under water.. so basically it was part of everything. I am still trying to find its origin but mostly I am using it to forecast quakes, volcanoes and solar flares.. and to help others who are experiencing pain or sound. I also have a free email subscription list if you are interested. I have a website but its in the process of being updated so some of the links do not work.. you can call me at 503-999-5745 anytime… and my website is ” http://www.viser.net/~charking and the doctors, scientist and government coined my ability and work as ” The Charlotte King Effect” check it out on Google… thank you.

30Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

31A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.

  34. How to make low frequency hum detector to locate origin-Get a hollow sphere. Figure out which direction is experiencing the greatest flexion.

  35. Me says:

I’ve heard the hum in central Oklahoma

  36. Texas Listening Post - Tony says:

The frequency mention 54 Hz is an audio frequency not a radio frequency. Generally the transport mediums for sound waves are: air, water, solids. You are looking at wave lengths in the miles to transmit such a wave would require a very powerful transmitter. A radio station broadcasting at 600 KHz with sound modulating the frequency in order to hear the sound the receive radio must receive the radio signal and then separate, detect, the sound from the radio frequency. Maybe someone has found a radio frequency that the human brain can act as the detector circuit and separate the audio from the radio frequency.

Questions: When people hear this sound is there ground shaking at the same time?

Brent, Did you actually record a 54 Hz signal or did you match the sound in your head with the output from a signal generator? This important to know.

Audio frequencies are usually caused by mechanical movement: speaker cone, striking a drum, air moving in a pipe organ.

Maybe the earth is just groaning as mentioned in the Bible.

I live in Kentucky. For the past two months I have been hearing a low pitch sound that sounds like a swarm of bees. I can hear it really well when it is quiet. It got so bad one day, I placed ear plugs to drown out the sound. To my surprise, the sound was even louder. I took the earplugs out. I had to turn a fan on in my room at night so I could sleep. There is a smart meter on the exterior wall of my house. I have also noticed more aches and pains. My hair is falling out. Also terrible earaches, and headaches. Anyone else experiencing these type of symptoms. Some days I feel very irritable for no reason at all. I think there is something to all these electronic devices that are all around us. It very well could be HAARP or Blue Beam. Just my thoughts.

  38. Josee B says:

Wow I thought I was going crazy, I would hear it at night and sometimes when I would go outside, I thought I was nuts as no one else could hear it… I am in Northern Ontario, I show it is not on the map, but I hear it…and btw we have no cell phone towers that are near us, I am beside a lake. so I am in total nature.

  39. tonic says:

There is no mention if this hum is audible underground.
If not then gps, cell phones, radio, tv, wifi, bluetooth, and heavens knows how many other electronic comms. are bouncing off us everyday.
Hard to imagine our brain is oblivious to all of them, or a collaboration of them all together.

I live in Naperville, IL and sometimes during the night I hear a humming sound and I am not able to pinpoint what it is.

  41. Stephen P says:

    Just a thought:
Could these vibrations be caused by the land tides as well was magmatic plumes. The continent of America has moved over millions of years so perhaps it is no longer sitting centrally over the magmatic plume that has lifted it up? Perhaps this has created a fine balance where the continent’s centre of gravity sits precariously on the edge of the plume? Tides from the moon pull the continent up and drop it back down over the plume. The underside of the plate vibrates with each drop as it slams back onto the buoyant plume. The effects of this vibrating, which cannot be readily measured on the seismic scale coul pack down the upper layers, causing voids to fill in and sinkholes to rupture on the surface. Although the vibrations will continue for some time to come, many of the voids have now been filled so sinkhole occurrences may at some point decline after coming to a climax. Could these stresses cause rifts to open up over the next century?

  42. Tom says:

Nothing can convince me that this is natural. Practicing mind control thru low frequencies? Seems plausible to me. They’ve been toying with low frequencies for years, it will drive humans mad if left on and set at the right frequency. They need all the “control” tools they can get with 7 billion people on this rock. When all else fails, viruses will be spread far and wide, maybe a Black Plague 2.0. It’s in the labs on standby. Keep your families close in these perilous times. <3

  43. I have been going through the “Hum” for two years and live adjacent to Macdill Airforce Base in Tampa Fl– I am also experiencing stalkers (some are military), petty property crimes, lasers and have surveillance videos and pictures to prove dating back to Dec 2011. This is not mysterious it is “Remote Neural Monitoring” associated with Organized Gang Stalking and if Americans don’t wake up we are all going to die. I have gone from extremely healthy to having severe osteoperosis, tumors, hearing loss and these Elf waves are microwave powered devices being tested illegally on us by the military!! We are in a world gone mad!! Good luck to humanity!!

  44. Openwide says:

Maybe it’s one of those sound weapons used to disperse crowds. Like England used and later was found to cause brain cancer. They’re just getting ready for martial law.

Isn’t the domestic electricity supple usual operating between 50 and 60 HZ ?

  46. I live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. I, too, hear this “humming” sound, but oddly enough, I only can hear it when I stand in one particular spot of my house. Anywhere else…I can NOT hear it! It’s the weirdest phenomenan! There is no way of pinpointing this noise, either! My wife was listening to George Nory (Coast to Coast A.M.) one night, and he was talking about it. I believe his view was that the government was doing some digging underground.

  47. very simple its infection put on the wires on purpose I am witness to middle easterners in this country putting infected blood on the plug and plugging it in what does that do? changes the frequencies and spreads disease and germs on the wired makes a hum
now just add soundwaves thats what that is. This was when I witnessed them going through the pawno shops like in Northglenn, colorado where they also were shipping in illegal militants non american to live secretly under the churches and travel abroad through the dv shelters then they added recycled computers underground with radar proof co axe cable now they live under the banks hooked wit up

  48. I am not 100% sure this is terrestrial in origin. I have no idea how anything that is picked up all over the world could be… for me it started in 1976 and has never quit, never. But my sounds are in the very low frequency range. Go to a bathroom and close the door or put your head over your tub or go out and shut yourself in your car, doors and windows closed. You should easily be able to hear this if you are hearing what I am hearing. I am not sure about the HUM as I have stated, I hear fog horns. But doing any of the above its like I am in the room with the sound. As for George Noory, there is nothing happening on this planet, that a person could hear all the way around the world.
    Thank you.
