6.0 magnitude earthquake shakes buildings in Eastern Kazakhstan

January 28, 2013KAZAKHSTANA shallow 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck a remote region of Eastern Kazakhstan today. According to news reports, the 6.0 earthquake caused apartment buildings to sway in the country’s largest city, Almaty. Residents in Almaty could feel buildings and windows shaking. Some ran out to escape to the open area. The earthquake was followed by three moderate aftershocks: of a 4.4, a 4.5, and a 4.6 magnitude. The shallow tremors were also felt in the capital of neighboring Kyrgyzstan. The 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck at a shallow depth of 10.9 km (6.8 miles). According to the USGS, the epicenter of the earthquake was 60 km (37 miles) SE of Kegen, Kazakhstan. –The Extinction Protocol
