Divers places: Earthquakes rattle Eastern Kentucky and Mississippi Delta

November 10, 2012KENTUCKY A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck eight miles west of Whitesburg, Ky., early Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The epicenter of the shallow, light earthquake was 0.7 miles deep under the Appalachian Mountains town of Blackey, near the Virginia border, the agency said. There were no immediate reports of damage in the eastern Kentucky area. The tremor was felt from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Atlanta, Ga., USGS geophysicist Paul Caruso in Denver told NBC News. Normally, we don’t expect major damage with this kind of intensity,” but it’s “not out of the question” that there could be some — usually, major damage is expected when magnitude is 5.5 or higher, Caruso said. Whitesburg police told NBC News they were still assessing the quake but there was no immediate visible damage. The Letcher County Sheriff’s office said it was still assessing the quake but had no reports of damage or deaths. Whitesburg Fire Department officials said they received reports of buildings shaking. Nick Howell, at Parkway Inn Hotel in Whitesburg told NBC News he felt light jolts but nothing serious. There was no visible damage outside, he said. Most Kentucky temblors historically have occurred in the western portion of the state, near the New Madrid seismic zone, the USGS says. Earlier today, a shallow 2.7 magnitude tremor struck east of the Mississippi Delta, just south of Mobile, Alabama at a depth of less than 5 km (3.1 miles). The planet is clearly experiencing more seismic dynamism.NBC , TEP

I agree about experiencing more seismic activities… it is more frequent than 2008 when I started paying attention of changing of seasons as Christ had stated.

I was sitting on my couch in Knoxville, TN and watching TV…. There was a definite “shearing” motion back-and-forth to this one. Ones I’ve felt in the past had a low rumble, this one did not. Quick, but distinct back-and-forth motion. Lasted about 10-12 seconds. That’s fairly significant for this area.

There has been 7, 7.0 earthquakes worldwide in the last 90 days.
We will begin to see significant interruptions to our daily lives in the near future.
Last night many of you probably watched Hal Lindsey. If you did not, catch his last broadcast via
TV or internet; because we are on the edge of change and not the change a person votes for.
I am under the belief that some of the coastal areas destroyed by Sandy may never be rebuilt, the people relocated and the area returned to wilderness. The situation in the tri-state area is awful but it is snapshot of what is soon to come.
We do not have much time left as a nation people recognize as a world super power.
Many people will be caught by surprise as they were after Sandy.
    just my opinion……………

“Earlier today, a shallow 2.7 magnitude tremor struck in the Mississippi Delta just south of Biloxi, Alabama ”
USGS has it listed Dolphin Island, Alabama…. FYI… BIloxi is in Mississippi.

I live in Science Hill, Kentucky. This afternoon about 12pm, there was an earthquake. I was asleep, but my husband and son felt it. My husband and son told me it sounded like loud thunder and then came the shaking and vibrations. He said the floors of our house literally vibrated for several seconds. My son said it felt like someone was jumping and stomping on the floor. How this did not wake me up is a mystery. My daughter lives a few miles from me and she said her walls were vibrating. She heard a sound underneath that was making a rattling, clanging sound. She said her Pug dog Roxie, and her cat started acting crazy. The dog was making sounds like a wolf, and the cat was almost screaming. She said it was very weird. Her next door neighbor came over and stayed with my daughter until the quake stopped. She told my daughter she thought what sounded like a loud train coming underneath the ground. They were both quite shaken over this. So far we have not had any aftershocks. It was rather scary hearing this hit right at home. I wonder when the BIG ONE! will hit? This is getting crazy. God help us!

Addendum: The media is reporting that the earthquake was felt in 13 states. Scary to say the least. the quake measured at 4.3 magnitude. They are saying that this the second largest quake we have had since 1980. Will keep everyone in my prayers. I think we are going to need them.

I’m surprised I didn’t feel it. Of course, I might have felt it and just thought it was my vertigo acting up.

Looks like the earth is waking up. If the follow the Mayan 21 Dec 2012 prophecy/therory the solar system is nearing the alignment with the black hole at the center of the galaxy. This may account for the increase in activity. We reach dead center on 21 December, if the recent activity is any indicator….look out and prepare. My sister in Benton Tn felt it also.

A Natural Gas Pipeline in Nashville runs through several states. There will be serious intrastructure damage if we are hit with a major earthquake. Please be ready to evacuate quickly.

    Alvin,
Do you think that this quake caused that massive explosion in Indiana? The news story was incredible. 30 homes were destroyed. Peoples windows and doors blew out. There were also reports of the extremely loud booming noises there.
Is it possible that methane was released by the quake?
And yes, this is prophecy. If there are those here who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, I encourage you to get on your knees and start praying.

I live in North Knoxville and didn’t feel a thing. It seems it was centered in West Knoxville. It’s weird how one part can feel it while people in another part of the same city don’t feel a thing.
