June food stamp recipients peak as three times as many Americans enter poverty as find jobs

September 4, 2012 – WASHINGTON – Following a brief period in which it seemed that US food stamp recipients may have peaked, with those living in poverty maxing out at 46.514 million in December 2011, and then declining modestly for the next few months, June saw a new surge in those Americans living in poverty and thus eligible for food stamps, with 173,600 new entrants into the system, bringing the total to a new all time high of 46.670 million and once again rising fast. Furthermore, with subsequent emergency events affecting the heartland due to the drought, the administration has made sure even more Americans will be eligible going forward. As a result expect the July and August numbers to promptly surpass 47 million on their way to the psychological resistance level of 50 million. Indicatively, the 173,600 increase in Food stamps recipients in June was three times greater than Americans finding jobs (64,000, most of which part-time) according to the BLS. Finally, a new record was also breached for American households on food stamps, which now hit 22.4 million, an increase of 106,298 households. The average benefit per household decline once more, this time to $276.5. Not an all time low, but just above it. –Zero Hedge

The sad reality is that so many people who have never taken food stamps and would never had thought about it, are now seriously considering it just to survive. I know, I’m one of them.

  This is a time of extraordinary economic hardships and many, many, people are unemployed and can’t find work. Without a safety net, I wonder what many would do, now that extended unemployment benefits have been terminated for so many. I wish the best for you, Irene.

Alot of people are just plain lazy. Then there are those who are too proud. There are plenty of jobs like fast food, cleaning jobs such as hotel maids, etc. These people refuse these jobs feeling that they are beneath them. I say, Do Anything, until something better comes along. Its far more shameful to waltz along on public assistance.

Remember your words, this is only the begining, we “aint seen nothin yet”. Oh, by the way, you’ll find that most people in our country, due to their pampered life styles, are not qualified for the rigors, plain hard, back breaking work of a McDonalds or a maid and are to self absorbed to know it. Question, if Jesus was standing on the corner of a busy intersection during rush hour in all His Humble Glory, how many people would scream “get a job loser” as they sped by on the way home to dinner and a warm,safe bed. On the way home from work the other day, i saw a lady sitting on the curb, all alone, crying. So much for ” waltzing along”

Do not expoit the poor because the are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the Lord will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them. Porverbs 22:22-23
