Saber rattling continues- Iranian Admiral: ‘We can move a vessel within three miles of New York City’

April 29, 2012 IRAN - An official of the Iranian military said last week that the country’s navy has the ability to move a naval vessel within three miles of the East Coast of the United States. Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, speaking on Tuesday to students of the University of Yazd, Iran, at the anniversary of a failed U.S. military operation in April 24, 1980 (Operation Eagle Claw), said that “The power of our naval forces is such that we have a presence in all the waters of the world and, if needed, we can move to within three miles of New York.” The U.S. launched “Operation Eagle Claw” in 1980 to rescue American hostages held captive at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. The top ranking naval officer added: “The Americans’ only tool to rule the world is their naval dominance of the Persian Gulf, and they will face any other power that threatens their status.” The Daily Caller reports that a Pentagon official reacted to Fadavi’s claim on Friday. He said: “You should ask the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps what their plans are. We support freedom of the seas and encourage all countries to follow international laws.” Daily Caller speculates that Iran could use a commercial vessel sailing under the flag of another country to approach the American shoreline to strike. The website notes that Iran possesses the capability to launch ballistic missiles from a ship.  The Daily Caller also reports that on Friday, Iran’s top air force commander, Brigadier General Amri Ali Hajizadeh, told Fars News Agency that the Iranian military has the capability to disable and sink U.S. aircraft carriers.  According to YNet News, Hajizadeh said: “First, sinking an aircraft carrier is not a complicated task. Second, an aircraft carrier is equipped with so many advanced, delicate, and sensitive devices… that it could be incapacitated by even the smallest explosion.”  Iran’s latest threats were apparently in response to the news that the United States has deployed advanced jet fighters only 200 miles from Iran’s mainland. Digital Journal reports that the U.S. deployed F-22 stealth fighters to an allied base close to Iran’s mainland. According to Digital Journal, “F-22 Raptors that have never been tested under combat conditions are now stationed at the Al Dafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates… the U.S. has been quietly assembling a powerful air-to-air fighting team at bases near Iran. Before the F-22s were deployed, the Air Force deployed the Massachusetts Air National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing, with 20 F-15Cs, to Southwest Asia.” –Digital Journal

I believe the Iranian Admiral is correct in his declaration.
Submarines has to be the vessels he is referring to.
In regard to Aircraft carriers, it is alleged that Iran has laid torpedo
silos at the bottom of the persian gulf to includes mines. I would think if a carrier was struck underneath instead of on the side, that could be problem. Suppose the nuclear reactor was compromised? Wonder if he was speaking about a suicide attack?
    just an opinion………….

    • I think submarines are what he’s referring to as well and not a ocean-going vessel, though I don’t think they want to mention it to alarm anyone.

      • Dennis E. says:

That is what I sort of thought…..
You know, lets say, that a submarine penetrated within 3 miles of New York and it could happen and it could launch cruise missiles from its torpedo tubes and New York could be heavily damaged.
That submarine would have to be equipped with super-silent gears, propeller and propulsion unit. Remember “Hunt for Red October”….

      • Exactly, or even a EMP bomb. We live on the frontier of these horrific new realities. I think much of Iran’s technology is geared towards trying to exploit U.S. vulnerabilities since they’re no match for the U.S. militarily. China seems to be moving in the same direction with anti-ship BM and anti-satellite weapon systems.

    • Magenta says:

We have to remember they hate Americans. They think they are fulfilling prophesy to exterminate us. Radical Islam followers believe if they kill us for Allah they get seventy-two virgins in heaven! They don’t care if they annihilate the planet because they are crazy. These kinds of tyrants have to be stopped, the government knows these facts. Iran is signing their own death certificate. You can expect the hammer to come down hard on them soon, they are not going to back down. We are their #1 enemy and they have their sights set on us. They have already infiltrated our country, waiting for the next strike, to play their part in killing us. I don’t think our military can afford to wait for them to make the first strike.

      • zencomico says:

That is not true at all. How many normal, nice Iranians have you spoke to. Sounds like you are brainwashed by the propaganda. Falling right into the trap, you did. It is government vs government, plus some extra sabre ratters such as yourself :)

      • Dennis E. says:

In regard to the 72 virgins in heaven comment, i was reading a book published by a christian author and he reported that the 72 virgin proclamation, according to another person more familier with the language was a mistranslation and actually it meant 72 raisins.
        I thought that was interesting……….

The US never got over the embassy thing in Iran 30 or so years ago, despite the current leadership in Iran being way more moderate than the leadership back then (they even actively encourage western tourism now). Generally the people in Iran are pretty happy with their lives even though their life is “different” to that in the US and democracy in the US form is not on the agenda. They believe religion and state are the same thing. I don’t agree with this, but hey, it’s their country. 30 years of a foreign power building military bases on ALL of their borders goes some of the way to explaining the mistrust and “hate”. There are 45 US bases around Iran today. If it was my country, firstly I’d be mouthing off about the US like their leadership does, it’s called “brinkmanship”. They have been pretty good at it, threatening consequences for Israel etc. it should be pointed out they havent actually done anything to anyone, particularly the US, in recent times. Secondly,if brinkmanship didn’t work, I’d start a nuclear program, because there would be no other way I’d be able to defend myself against an immensely superior power. Forget this country is Iran and apply he circumstances to the country you live in now, what would you do? Do you want to live in your country the way you choose? What if another country built 45 bases around ALL your borders? The US should just leave them alone. There are plenty of more worthwhile injustices to correct in the world where people are being persecuted and are dying everyday, and not just “philosophically different” as is the case in Iran. By all means, bomb them back to the stone age 20 times when they actually do something wrong (like old Libyia and to a lessor extent Iraq before Gulf War I, but not GWII ). Pushing and pushing Iran until they snap is bad for the whole human race.

    • Bone Idle says:

Or a Q-ship. Tramp freighter with nefarious interior. South American flagged ship would raise no caution from coast guard or military authorities inspection.

One of these ships with an alleged genuine cargo could float right into a U.S. harbor.
What would happen if one of these ships had a large dirty nuclear bomb and a fanatical suicide crew?

      • Maverick says:

I think a Q-Ship (or a Q-Plane) is the most likely possibility. Smuggling a nuke could be feasible, though … Even if the Narcos probably won’t want to hear about that (bad for business) But we have to keep in mind a False Flag operation is still a possibility; some of our “Allies” have interest in having Iran and Sirya brought down by us, so they place their Al-Qaïda puppets, like in Libya, Tunisia, Egypt. Remember 9/11 : 15 out of the 19 passports were Saudi …

  2. Gordian Knot. says:

Key words ‘saber rattling’ which is pure bravado. The world knows what foreign powers did to Iraq’s Republican Guard which laid biblical waste to their armies. U.S. nuclear subs and satellites have an excellent tracking record of what come and goes from the Straights of Hormuz as well as other ports of the world.

  3. TexasRedNeck says:

Anything is possible, but I’m certain that our military knows exactly where the Irainian vessels are at any given minute of the day or night. Why would they be so determined to hit NYC a civilian target ? Oh that’s right they’re Muslims, they like to kill defenseless civilians. Why not move a couple of hundred miles down the coast and hit Washington, D.C. ? Now that would be a blessing to us, wipe out the REAL terrorist to the American people, the politicians.

    • Greg says:

      EMP device; that’s why!

    • zencomico says:

You would like to think that all muslims want to kill defenceless citizens. So in fact you are making defenceless muslim citizens guilty without trial. How about you go search youtube, all the Iranian people saying they do not want war, they want peace?, before speaking your own self-created truths? :)

    • zencomico says:

You would like to think that all muslims want to kill defenceless citizens. So in fact you are making defenceless muslim citizens guilty without trial. How about you go search youtube, all the Iranian people saying they do not want war, they want peace? Do you not realise that the bigotry you are speaking is what leads to such wars? You are hating before knowing the situation. Go and look at youtube please.

    • ROSITA says:

Careful now, remember that freedom of speech in America is NOT what it was! If a marine could get into trouble for saying something negative against Pres. Obama on Facebook, just the other day, you, a civilian, can easily get into hot waters too! But I say ALWAYS be ready to stand up for what is truth and for what is right regardless!!!

  4. kahlathet says:

why fight a war when we have bio-warfare available, it doesn make sense to me play around shooting each other when the main goal is to kill everyone and take over their toys

  5. wayne says:

in my opinion hitting new york makes complete sense.knock out the economic hub first, plus a payback for the false flag on the towers.and in d.c. whos going to be there anyways,,they will all be underground as safe as can be.economically the united states is barely hanging on so crush them where it will hurt the most,,ie new york.

  6. Travis says:

Torpedos are not made to hit the side of a ship anymore. They are made to detonate under the ship lifting it out of the water and breaking the ships Back.

  7. Peggy says:

I am reading 77 Days in Spetember-novel about an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) being launched close to our shores detonated 300 to 500 miles about the Earth’s surface. Something so simple would bring America to it’s knees-no electricity, no cars, no planes, etc… for years. I was waiting for the movie the The Carrington Event-which the EMP is from the sun-I can’t see when that would be released. We are all waiting for an event such as The Carrington Event from solar activity-like they are trying to alert us when in fact it could just as easy be released by our enemies…

    • Bone Idle says:

The BBC has made a documentary/drama scenario which outlines the likely stages of before and after a Carrington type event. The only problem with it was that it underestimated the likely disruption and consequences.

  8. m c says:

I almost got to believe that our military has weapons that no one else has even seen yet and can lay waste to a country like iran in many different ways if need be.

We as a country spend far to much on military to have just standard weapons.

Iran is just poking the bear but will run when it hears the growl but by then it may be to late for them.

    • Famous aerospace author and photographer, Jim Goodall, a curator of Seattle Museum of Flight,
citing Lockheed Skunk Works chief Ben Rich

The U.S. has been at war for more than 20 years, perfecting weapons both in and out of the field.

  9. Carla Burgers says:

Sounds like Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi wanted to impress his students. Again, Iran’s ego is big, their hearts small and their militairy knowledge and capabilities mediocre. Keep safe all and stay away from those spewing vulcanoes.

  10. Doğan Rahil says:

Please stop Ignorance here.. Islam has nothing to do with their own interpretation of Allah’s decree… Dont generalized all Muslims…..heightening non-sense speculation….. what you all think and write and what I think doesnt matter….. What our CREATOR wills matter….

  11. Dan Sherwood says:

It would not likely be a sub. They are too easy to keep track of. Probably a large private yacht, motor-sailor would be least likely to be stopped and boarded. (too much hassle making the vessel drop her sails for a boarding and too slow to be expected of smuggling)

  12. nanoduck says:

Christians thinks their religion is perfect, and the Bible is the truth. They are willing to bash other people, and even each other, in the name of their religion. Muslims thinks their Q’uran is all truth, and they are willing to die or kill for it. And all other religions– Jews, Hindu, Buddhists, and others all think theirs is the only way and the truth. All these religions have their “saviors”– Jesus of Christians, Mohammed of Muslims, Krishna of Hindu, Buddha of Buddhists, and Messiah of Jews…everyone are all looking for the same thing but have different versions of truths. No wonder religion is the number one cause of all the wars and aggression.
We all need to realize that there is no such thing as “perfect” religion except for love, and we need to push aside all our bigotry and hatred and embrace our Creator as one people.

    • What’s causing aggression on the planet is ‘testosterone’ not religion. It’s present in men and women and people don’t need a religion to kill someone- must do it in absence of one. The world is violent and full of patriarchal masculine aggression and has been since the fall in Eden- this is the problem. Christ is the way, “the truth and the life- no man cometh unto the Father but by me” according to His own testimony in John 14:6. Christianity exclusivity clause of Christ being the only way to the Father was meant to divide His followers from a lost world. This is not about spinning a wheel and picking a messiah that suits the masses so the world can be at peace. It’s about redemption, salvation and about Christ who is both Lord, Savior and is coming back as King of Kings to institute his kingdom here on Earth. Love is not a religion- love is the pathway. There is no peace in this world. There never has been nor will there ever be until sin is eradicated and God’s institutes His rightful rule on Earth. .

      • ningnomaningnong says:

You’re either of this world or you’re reborn through Yeshua (Jesus) through Faith. The truth isn’t a Pik’n’Mix.
The world loves it’s own and as sad as it is, believers in the Lord who expect peace here shouldn’t hold their breath.

      • olebob says:

The funny thing is, all of our “enemies” that our governments are willing to illegally invade sovereign territory for, risk starting WW3 for, are by some strange coincidence, enemies of Zion.

So it seems it is not testosterone that is the problem, or religion in general, it is Zionism.

Since when did Christians become willing warriors for Zionism? Go back less than one hundred years and Christian Europeans loathed Jews enough, to chase them out of their localities, with flaming torches.

Are people really so easily brainwashed, by a media that is Zionist controlled, they will start WW3, because it tells them to?

Are they really such mindless sheeple?

      • When did Christ ever criticize Rome? Are we here to change governments or hearts? All that live by the sword will perish by the sword. The Bible is clear; peace talks will one day collapse and the world will be swept towards war and unprecedented peril. 1 Thess. 5:8 With this is mind…what does it really matter what goes on in the Middle East?

      • tonic says:

The only emotion I feel God understands is love. Its certaintly the only way I can communicate with him. Its not a pathway, and if you are going to be cross with me for saying this then so be it. Everything that is happening is about Matthew 19:14. When Jesus decends, it will not be in anger but in sadness. None of this is about us, it,s about our legacy. Only my view, dismiss it as you will.

      • You are entitled to your opinion. I’m entitled to mine. I said pathway because that’s what it is. Love is not a religion. It’s what we practice in a religion. True Love emanates from God, the source. Christ demonstrated what God’s love is. It’s never been about us as far as I’m concerned. There is nothing to dismiss…

    • ROSITA says:

Wrong! Religion is not the cause of all wars, EVIL is the cause of all wars and satan is behind all wars using people who pit themselves against Creator-God. Jesus is the ONLY way the truth and the life, NO one gets to Father-God except through Jesus Christ alone. We can only push aside bigotry and hatred by allowing the love of Jesus Christ through Creator-God to fill our hearts, and the only way this will happen is when we study the word of Creator-God to learn how to develop a relationship with the Creator of our universe. We cannot set aside evil, and hatred by ourselves because we are sinful beings in need of a saviour which is Jesus Christ the Lord who died for us all so that we can obtain eternal life.

  13. tonic says:

If it’s never been about us then why did Jesus die? And how can you differenciate the feelings you have towards your children against the feelings you have towards God? And if love only exists or is practiced in religion, then what exists outside. I know I am walking on very thin ice now, but you are on the verge of dissmissing the life that Jesus led in my eyes. And understand that I believe in you more than any other person alive.

    • None of this is about us, it,s about our legacy

Was this not your own words, friend?

There are three types of love mentioned in the Bible.

      1. Phileo- Brotherly love
      2. Eros- sexual love (man and wife)
      3. Agape- which is unconditional love Corinthians 13

What type of love is God’s love? Is sex or brotherly love a religion? Certainly not. You’re not walking on thin ice.

      • tonic says:

The love Jesus felt on the cross.

      • It was such a beautiful unconditional love and if this is what you feel then what you have, as you mentioned, is very special.

“For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through Him might be saved.”

  14. tonic says:

Please, please, please never stop doing what you are doing. Wheather you like it or not, Gods love emanates from you. Spread it around, the world needs it so much.

  15. Dan Sherwood says:

Isaiah 56:9-12. In the New Living Translation it says “Come wild animals of the field! Come, wild animals of the forest! Come and devour my people! For the leaders of my people – the Lords watchmen, His shepherds- are blind to every danger. They are like silent watchdogs that give no warning when danger comes. They love to lie around, sleeping and dreaming. They are stupid shepherds, all following their own path, all of them intent on personal gain. “Come” they say, “we will get some wine and have a party. Let’s get drunk. Let this go on and on, and tomorrow will be even better”.
And we learn of the author of this blindness in 2 Corinthians 4:3&4 “If the Good News we preach is veiled from anyone, it is a sign that they are perishing. Satan, the god of this evil world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe, so they are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News that is shining upon them. They don’t understand the message we preach about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
