Is a super-volcano just 390 miles from London about to erupt?

January 2, 2012GERMANYA sleeping super-volcano in Germany is showing worrying signs of waking up. It’s lurking just 390 miles away underneath the tranquil Laacher See Lake near Bonn and is capable of ejecting billions of tons of magma. This monster erupts every 10 to 12,000 years and last went off 12,900 years ago, so it could blow at any time. The Laacher See volcano is similar in size to Mount Pinatubo, which caused a 0.5C drop in global temperatures when it erupted in 1991. It covered 620 square miles of land with ash and rocks and several small earthquakes in the region last year indicate that it could be awakening from its deep sleep. Experts believe that if it did go off, it could lead to widespread devastation, mass evacuations and even short-term global cooling from the resulting ash cloud blocking the Sun. The effect on the UK is hard to predict but it’s possible that large parts of southern England could be covered ash. It’s thought that the volcano is similar in size and power to Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines, which blew in 1991 and became the biggest eruption of the 20th century. It ejected 10 billion tons of magma, 20 billion tons of sulphur dioxide 16 cubic kilometres of ash and caused a 0.5C drop in global temperatures. Volcanologists believe that the Laacher See volcano is still active as carbon dioxide is bubbling up to the lake’s surface, which indicates that the magma chamber below is ‘degassing.’ –Daily Mail
As I wrote in my book, page 119, 2010 was the year Laacher See begin experiencing seismic and thermal anomalies and that was probably the year the volcano began awakening. –The Extinction Protocol

  1. Dr. Strauss Faukland Jameson says:

I work and research at the geographical institute NGO with speciality in Vulcanology and (Laacher See) is not a “new” phenomenon. The 2012 “world coming to an end scenario is a hype created by the media and entertainment companies for you to be pre-occupied with their indoctrination and increase their sales. I want the reader to forget about religion and “smart-science” giving their predictions on and theories on what could happen or not. Let me explain this is simple terms. We all are aware of “gravity” and understands it’s role and placement in our universe. Gravity is a regulator of gas vs. mass. Once a substance takes a tangible form it increases it’s weight and minimizes it’s volume. This is common knowledge and given the framework, here beign the Earth with a magnetic pole a round shape (suggests balance), which means more or less equal weight and pressure on each side. When this balance is upset to do increase of mass, buildings, diggings, earthquakes or any other regulating activity on a high scale combined with time, it is inevitable the Earth needs to restore to it’s default by way of releasing energy. Think about it an obese man, just eating himself fatter and fatter, the pressure on his internal organs, subsequently the heart will stop pumping because of mass. To much energy in the center of Earth will decrease rotation and alter gravitation. That means we would lose oxygen and simply be burned by the atmosphere. Anyway, the world with not “end” but things will change in case of an eruption and the whole European continent will be affected, not to mention Indonesia, russia, Canada, US and New Zealand. A chain reaction will occur when the “Ring of Fire” will be become “active”. They are always active, the question is how active, we can measure this by way of controlling sulpher in water and the famous Richterscale. If “Laacher See” erupts everything within a 1800km radius will be destroyed because of the seismatic activity and various pyroclastic flows. this will level infra-structures and if people do not have access to at least clean water or clean air, their lungs will fill up with particules and because it affects so many people not everyone can be helped. In addition, since this is a “super-vulcano” and takes form of a caldera (hidden below the Earth, instead of standing tall like Mt. Sankt Helens) it is impossible for any of us to predict how “terra” land which will sink and be eaten by magma. The chances the past few weeks for an eruption in 2012 have increased tremendously, but I suggest people simply go on with their normal lifes and ignore this “threat”. It is not worth thinking about, nor should the goverments within Europe or the United States be pre-occipied with this. I would recommend zero warning in order not to put any unncessary fear in people, because if it happens no one can prepare for the action and aftermath. I wish you all a pleasent day and think positively. Sincerely, Dr. SFJ

Is this a real threat or just a scare ?

    Oh dear….
Better get your coat. BTW check out Santorini in Greece. Imagine what happens if the 2 erupt simultaniously? Not likely, but think about it.

if laacher see is a super volcano, the eruption would be larger than Mt. Pinatubo; considering supervolcanoes are able to spew out 1000km cubed of ash and pyroclastic material. You should be more worried about Yellowstone anyway, considering its the largest supervolcanic caldera and magma chamber in the world.
