12 Responses to How a loss of faith in politicians and democracy could make 2012 the most frightening year in living memory

Well, since 2012 is near, it seems that many people are pondering if the predictions will come true.
I say, take one day at a time, walk by faith and not by sight.

The most frightening with all of this is the concern that so much is happening with natural disasters of various sorts and the possibility of a mutant virus that would make [ as expected anyway ] the flu shot vaccinations that have been given out as totally futile and the entire economy collapses because the only people with the money the rest of the world shared has been hoarded by China and the middle east as we in the west sold out to them. As much as I would like to be wrong in this, I don’t think that China would exactly be wanting to help the rest of the world heal, as say the USA would always do.

Come on … Even Scrooge needs customers to keep his business running. China is too dependent on the West for its exports, appropriation of technology, and foreign capital investment to let us drown. Not completely, at least. And China’s economic situation is none too shiny, either. Besides a very significant real estate “bubble”, there are credit crunches on the local level, as well as social problems (the days of dime jobs are soon to be over), Inflation is rampant …

Memoirs of Herbert Hoover, U.S. President 1928-1932, about the 1931 world financial crisis :

“”It was now evident why the European crisis had been so long delayed. They had kited bills to A in order to pay B and their internal deficits. I don’t know that I have ever received a worse shock. The haunting prospect of wholesale bank failures and the necessity of saying not a word to the American people as to the cause and the danger, lest I precipitate runs on our banks, left me little sleep. ”

    And then from martin Armstrong:

“Hoover again rose to the occasion, trying to arrive at some solution. Lending more money would not solve the problem. The vast, intricate entanglement of the foreign debt situation was a time bomb waiting to explode at any moment. Hoover’s proposal was to call a complete “standstill” among all banks everywhere, preventing anyone from calling upon German or Central European short-term obligations.

France still pressured for a $500 million loan to Germany. Hoover refused to go along with it. Mellon warned Hoover that if the U.S. did not go along with the plan the French intended to place all the blame on the United States, and he warned that he was playing into the hands of the French. Mellon strongly urged Hoover to accept the French proposal. Hoover lost his patience, as he put it, and informed Mellon that his “standstill” plan was being released to the press at that very moment. When the news came out, the London Conference was forced to accept Hoover’s proposal because the truth was at last coming out.

A group of New York bankers complained to the White House and warned that they would not comply with the standstill. They demanded that Hoover loan money to Germany so it could pay its debts which the bankers held. As Hoover wrote: “My nerves were perhaps overstrained when I replied that, if they (bankers) did not accept within twenty-four hours (his standstill proposal), I would expose their banking conduct to the American people.” Needless to say, the bankers realized Hoover’s determination and his opinion that the taxpayer should not pay for the banker’s problems, which had been created by their eager solicitation of private citizens for foreign securities, and the bankers reluctantly backed off. Indeed, the actions of the banks and the Federal Reserve had bordered on the verge of treason as they acted as willing participants in what proved to be a game of musical chairs with the unsound foreign governmental debt instruments.”

The more things change the more they stay the same

IMO Regardless of what is being said in the media and newspapers, this will be our last normal year.
Mind you, there will be a few more normal years as well but only a few, something like 3 or perhaps 4.

The US political machine is a joke. Neither party can make a decision that’s of any value to the American people much less the rest of the world. Don’t pin your hopes on the US doing the right thing.

Apocalypse Not Now: 2012 Doomsday Predictions Debunked by NASA
“On Dec. 21, 2012, many doomsday believers fear the apocalypse — anything from a rogue planet smashing into us to our world spinning end over end. However, the world should expect nothing more next year than the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, NASA says.

The US and the world is ripe for a massive correction. We’re in a complete consumer/never ending entertainment induced stupor. We’ve come so reliant on “they” will fix the economy, “they” will come up with a magical solution to climate change, “they” will drill baby drill, and the century of happy motoring will continue. The stock market, and the entire financial house of cards are supported by the three “H’s” hope, hype and hope. Hope that hype will give hope.

I find it funny how we have come this far, and people still aren’t asking the simple questions… How can the entire world be in financial ruin? Who does everyone owe money to? Answer: banks! They truly are a criminal bunch. They create fiat money out of nothing, then “loan” it out in exchange for physical assets as collateral. They are no different than the moneychangers of old. You know who I mean.. The only people who ever made Jesus act out violently.
All of our financial woes are caused by our willingness to play by the rules of a small group who’s aim is to place us all in financial bondage.
