Fourth moderate earthquake strikes off coast of North Island New Zealand in 3 days

November 21, 2011AUCKLAND, NZ A 5.1 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is the fourth moderate earthquake to rattle the region in three days. The epicenter of the earthquake was 154 km (95 miles) NE of Gisborne, New Zealand, 393 miles from Auckland and 556 km from Wellington. On November 18th, a spasm of earthquakes erupted along this same tectonic boundary between the Pacific and Australian tectonic plates including 5.2 and 5.7 foreshocks, followed by a stronger 6.0 magnitude earthquake. Today’s 5.1 magnitude earthquake was the shallowest earthquake yet in the series- erupting only some 2.5 km below the ocean floor.  No tsunami warnings were issued for today’s tremor. –The Extinction Protocol

Alvin please check out this site, its not the offcial government site Geonet, but it shows the many other quakes that are being held back from the public.Just click on the quake, and it will show you on the map.Alot of these quakes are in the moderate to high 4+ range, even 5′s from a few days ago, that aren’t being reported on Geonet. There has also been quite a few biggish quakes closer to Gisbourne itself. http://quakemap.co.nz/

Researchers in a nationwide study of earthquakes will soon place instruments beneath the Georgia red clay and in other eastern states as they seek to learn more about what causes them and where they might strike.

When we were discussing the beached whales, I remember some of the discussions were that maybe this was a warning that there were earthquakes coming. Now I’m wondering if the beached whales were a warning. Animals are very sensitive to changes in the earth.
