6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes south of Kermadec Islands

October 7, 2011 – KERMADEC – A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has struck south of the Kermadec Islands at a depth of 40 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was 106 km (65 miles) S of L’Esperance Rock, Kermadec Islands, and 762 km (473 miles) NE of Auckland, New Zealand. No tsunami warnings were issued and there have been no initial reports of damage. –The Extinction Protocol
