6.3 magnitude earthquake erupts in volcanic trench of Tonga

September 5, 2011 – TONGA – A 6.3 earthquake has struck along the volcanic trench of Tonga in the South Pacific at a depth of 35.4 km. The epicenter of the submarine earthquake was 254 km (157 miles) SW of APIA, Samoa and 2653 km (1648 miles) NNE of Auckland, New Zealand. This is the 6^th major earthquake to strike the planet in the first five days of September and the 7^th major earthquake to strike the globe in the last six days. –The Extinction Protocol

A Geoscience Australia spokesman said the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.0 and its epicentre was 20km north of Peterborough, 20km east of Orrororoo and 87 km northeast of Port Pirie.
It had struck about 8.45pm.
A second tremor hit 10 minutes later and measured about 2.1.
“There’s been no reports of damage, but we’ve had reports in all those areas and also in Jamestown,” the spokesman said.
He said there would be aftershocks, but could not say how severe they would be or how long they would last.
“For a magnitude of four, we’re going to expect some small aftershocks but we would expect them to be reducing in size,” he said.
He said earthquakes were not uncommon in that area.
“Around the Flinders there, that’s a pretty active seismic area and always has been,” he said.
“It would be normal to expect aftershocks.”
Keith Manning of the Peterborough Motor Inn said he felt the earthquake but didn’t realise what it was.
“I just thought, what the hell was that?
“The earth shook and I didn’t even realise what was going on” he said.

Im expecting a huge quake to hit japan or new zealand in the next week or 2..A quake that
will put the march quake to shame..Judging from all the models the from the last few weeks a major quake is imminent and will strike with a force not seen before…

I signed up, as well as many of you, to rec’d email alerts from the USGS.
Have been for the longest time. Well, this particular area “Tonga Trench ” is nearly it seems, always having an EQ. In my opinion, something is stirring in this region that could be real bad in the future.

@Johnny : I also have a feeling something big is going to happen. In know we seen several big quakes such as this one and Vanuatu, but I feel something is going to give in a populated area. I’m not sure if it will be Japan again or New Zealand, but I’m feeling around the third week of September. Everything from earthquakes, to volcanoes, to hurricanes and typhoons are exploding. Katia still doesn’t know what she wants to do and there is another tropical depression off the coast of Africa heading for the U.S. My prayers to whoever is affected.

@ irene I agree with you…now there has been another quake near sumatra things are heating up
very fast and to all the people out there that blatantly ignore these warning signs…They’re is still time for you to come to terms what is happening and plan for the worst…
Time is all we have now and IF is not the question anymore its WHEN and how hard
