June snow falls in Wales as Britain struggles through a drought

June 11, 2011- WALES – Tourists in Wales were left frozen and shocked when snow started to fall, despite it being mid-June. The blizzard-like conditions had holidaymakers running for shelter in Snowdonia – just as it was being announced that large parts of Wales and England are officially suffering a drought. Jonathan Tyler, manager of Snowdon Mountain Railway’s visitor centre at the summit of the mountain, told Wales Online: ‘It snowed for about an hour… people were arriving at the summit looking quite bemused. It was summer at the bottom of the mountain and winter at the top.’ Mary Pearce, 62, who was visiting the mountain railway, told the BBC: ‘It is the middle of June, days before the start of Wimbledon and just over a week before the summer solstice. But there we were, standing with the snow blowing all around us.’ Meanwhile in Bristol, another area affected by drought concerns, a hailstorm broke out, forcing shoppers and tourists to run for cover. While the snow and hail may not be welcomed by summer holidaymakers, many are hoping that it will help bring some relief to the dry conditions around the country. After one of the driest springs on record in many parts of Britain, a state of drought has been officially declared in parts of eastern England. The drought affects Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire and more areas could follow. Parts of the South West, South East, Midlands and Wales are experiencing near-drought conditions, the Environment Agency said. –AOL travel

Alvin, What is happening to the planet? Do you think an ice age could be what leads to our demise like in The Day after Tomorrow? Obviously it wouldn’t happen that quick. Or will it be geological changes that do us in?

    • We have to be aware of catastrophic events which can happen suddenly with little or no warning as most past extinction events were. This is our greatest peril living on Earth. Few planets in star systems we’ve found in the space we’ve explored have Earth’s unique set of perils. Earth is in the middle of a massive debris field and surrounded by an untold number of objects that have the potential energy to end life on Earth as we know it. Other than Mars, which lost its atmosphere from a past catastrophe, our atmosphere is paper thin and we’re surrounded by an estimated 3 million asteroids, a trillion comets, and 3,000 dark comets. The law of averages alone, says our days are numbered on Earth as a planetary species and quite frankly, it’s a miracle we’ve survived this long without the planet being destroyed. Some ask why I believe in God, one reason is because I don’t believe in that kinda luck. Well, one day that luck is going to run out- either because of volcanic convulsion, nuclear war, frozen methane exsolving in ever-warming oceans, meteor or comet collision, solar event, or planetary flip (and instant freeze) and everything we know will change in the twinkling of an eye. Jeremiah 4:23-25 is a prophetic vision of a dead planet Earth, no light, no life and in a state of ruins. In my mind, our only question should be —- do we get off this planet in time before this catastrophe occurs?

I would imagine this is from all the Iceland ash, no?

    • I don’t think it’s because of the ash though it has slightly increased the planet’s albedo ratio and has enhanced some cooling. Though the eruption was not large enough from either of the Icelandic volcanic eruptions to dramatically alter global climate.

Alvin, When you say, “do we get off this planet in time before this catastrophe occurs?” do you mean a literal exodus off of the planet or do you mean raptured?

    • This is my belief that the 5,000 year old prophecy given to Enoch, as recorded in Jude 14, before the flood and destruction of the first world is the same prophecy Christ uttered before the destruction of this world. Christ 2nd Coming has always been an 11th hour rescue plan

Hi I agree my thoughts are a “DAY AFTER TOMORROW” senario for a long time i believe some sort of climate flip or global superstorm is heading our way , the outside temp at my house on Friday was 8 deg !!!!!!!! i live in Redruth Cornwall….even put my heating on ..in June!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. J Guffey says:

Wow Penny, I looked up the stats on average temperature for this time of year and it to be 53 degree F. Seems very foreboding with everything else going on Worldwide. May God bless you.

Great cross reference with science and God Alvin.

Penny, Wow!!! In June?! Where is Cornwall located?
